Concord Diner, Concord, NC

I gotta admit…I really wanted to like it but just could not. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a comfortable biker place, really laid back, crossed with an old fashioned restaurant. Black and white pictures of old movie stars covered the walls and the Harley-Davidson sign greeted you at the front door. I really wanted to like it for that reason alone. Unfortunately, it just did not happen. We asked to sit in the non-smoking section but even sitting there, the smoke just sort of covered you. When we left, I smelled like I had been sitting in a bar all night. I ordered bacon and cheddar cheese omelet which sounded good but came out flat and scorched and tasted very bland, just like burned eggs. My son ordered a patty melt and fries. The sandwich was huge and served on big pieces of Texas Toast with cheese and onions. I took a bite and tasted burned bread and grease pouring out of the onions. The fries tasted like Ore-Ida fries. I am thinking I coulda and shoulda made this dinner at home minus the burned everything. Oh well, live and learn. On to the next undiscovered place.
