For the Love of Good Food

And so the search begins…after moving to Concord, NC, and trying to find a really good restaurant, I soon realized I had my work cut for me. I can’t tell you how many times my family and I have decided to go for a night out only to sit there for the next hour trying to figure out…hmmm…where do we go? As a result, I have decided to pursue my right to find that perfect restaurant, that coffee shop that makes you want to come back for more, that date night restaurant that my husband and I call our special place, that hole in the wall place where they know your name and you love the band, that cafe that you love to sit outside and feel the breeze while enjoying a cup of soup and a sandwich, that greasy spot that makes the best hamburgers in town, that eclectic bistro with that great new artist’s paintings on the walls and the best mixed drinks, the biker spot that has the coldest beer on tap and the best wings to boot, that farmer’s market stand that has the best strawberries, that classic upscale restaurant where the wine tastes rich and flavorful and the steaks are thick and juicy….that perfect place that I can call my own.
A little about me, I grew up near Charleston, SC, and am a fan of low country southern food. I also lived in Newberry, SC for the majority of my life before moving to North Carolina. In Newberry, my father owned a small hamburger joint, which made me appreciate a good thick burger “all the way, cut in half”. The restaurant was named Dopey’s. Dopey served some really good greasy cholesterol clogging food. I still love to go to different restaurants, love to sample new foods and attempt to cook many different things. I have my B.A. from Newberry College. I have varied interests including learning to cook new foods, painting, drawing and writing.
